Encounter Bible Study is a student led club open to all SHS students, regardless of beliefs. Bible Study Club is a safe and welcoming environment that encourages open discussion. SHS students gather once each month to study various topics, discuss, and share. During discussion, all club members, regardless of beliefs are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas.

Delta Epsilon Phi (ΔΕΦ) National Honor Society for High School Students of German recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of learners of German. The organization was founded in 1968 by Käthe Wilson at Coral Gables High School (FL), a devoted AATG member, to reward scholastic achievement in the study of German and to promote interest in the study of German language, literature, and civilization.

To be eligible for induction, students must have completed three semesters of German with a 3.6 grade point average in German and have an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Individual chapters may set additional eligibility requirements.

The officers meet on the first Thursday of the month and the new members and officers meet together on the third Thursday of the month. Here is the application.

Our goal is to promote interest in the study of German language, literature, and civilization. Members have to complete 5 service credits every semester. Community Service Tutoring struggling German students and work with other organizations within the Strongsville High School community.

The Lantern is our school news organization. Run by students and written for students, we report relevant news, trends, current events, opinions, and entertainment for our student body. We publish in magazine format which are passed out all around the school and online, on our website strongsvillelantern.com.

If you would like to join our club, we are looking for writers (see topics above), designers, artists, photographers and videographers. We are adding more video and audio this year, so if you have skill or experience in that area, join us! Even if you don’t, join us!

We are a haven for all people; we accept all.

Meetings are every other week in room 804 from 2:35-3:15 weekly (date to be announced!)

Membership Application

Mu Alpha Theta is a national math honor society established in 1915. As a Strongsville junior or senior currently enrolled in Algebra II/Trig or higher, you are eligible for membership if you have maintained a 38 GPA (as a junior) and/or a 3.6 GPA as a senior in your high school credit mathematics classes. These numbers represent the national standard for Mu Alpha Theta membership.

Applications for induction into the local Mu Alpha Theta chapter are available in February of each school year and are available on the school webpage or through your math teacher. The induction ceremony will take place in March. Students and families will be invited to attend the ceremony. Members will receive honor cords to wear during the spring of their graduation year.

Meeting dates are at the discretion of the elected officers and the faculty advisors.

This is a math honor society that inducts new members in March, after 2nd semester grades are finalized.

National Art Honor Society

The SHS NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY, sponsored by the National Art Education Association,

is an art service-oriented student group, organized to serve the Strongsville community, which also inspires students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art to utilize their talents for worthy causes.

Membership applications can be picked up in Art room #700 and are due by September 1 in order to meet the first required volunteer service commitment for "A Day at the Chalet" event sponsored by The Arts in Strongsville civic group. To meet NAEA set criteria, qualifying members need to maintain a 3.0 overall unweighted GPA and be enrolled in at least one semester of art every year. A one-time membership fee of $35 is also required.

Required membership meetings are held once a month on Thursdays, from 2:30 to 3:15 pm during which service projects are created for our community, such as greeting cards for neighboring nursing home residents, homeless shelter mats, placemats for the Meals on Wheels program, National Black History Month dedication artwork, etc.

The purpose is to promote literacy to our school, district, and the community as well as enrich the development of literacy within our members of our society.

Requirements to join:

You must be a current 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student at Strongsville High School.
Your weighted cumulative GPA must be a 3.5 or higher.
You must attend the Introductory Meeting in September
You must fill out the application (found on the "Application" page of our website) and submit it by the due date
You must enjoy reading and writing and have a desire to build a positive culture of literacy within Strongsville City Schools.
You must attend the Induction Ceremony in October
You must pay the one time $25 fee for induction into The Society.

The Pep Band performs at all home basketball games.

To Join: See Mr. King by the end of October.

Games take place on Tuesdays or Fridays per the varsity boys basketball schedule. Rehearsal starts at 6pm in the band room. The game usually ends around 9:30pm,

Are there any benefits of joining Psychology Club?
Of course! Joining a SHS Club can be a great way to become involved in the SHS community. It’s a great way to meet new people with similar interests and a great way to get to know teachers. There are also leadership opportunities and, of course, Psychology Club is a great extracurricular activity to list on a resume.

Rho Kappa is the National Social Studies Honor Society for high school students in the United States. It's sponsored by the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and is the only national organization that recognizes high school juniors and seniors for excellence in the field of social studies.

Eligibility: The following are the minimum requirements for application to Rho Kappa:

Juniors must have 2 AP, Honors, or College Credit Plus (CCP) Social Studies credits by the end of their junior year
Seniors must have completed 3 AP, Honors, or College Credit Plus (CCP) Social Studies credits by the end of their senior year.
GPA requirements: 3.6 GPA unweighted in Social Studies courses

We enjoy skiing/snowboarding as a group in the great outdoors at one of our local Snow Resorts of Boston Mills or Brandywine. Even years, we go to Boston Mills. Odd year, we go to Brandywine.

Student Council is a year-long, after-school volunteer student organization that focuses on school spirit, leadership development, service projects and community outreach. It allows students to make a difference in their classroom, school, and community. Through developing, planning, organizing, promoting, and carrying out projects and events, students have the opportunity to see their ideas take action while fostering a sense of purpose within themselves all while supporting a positive school environment for all students and staff.

Theatre club is a space where students can openly express themselves and collaborate through theatre activities, exercises, and improv games. Students will also have opportunities to help fundraise and promote for the extracurricular productions along with attending local International Thespians festivals and workshops.

Students may attend any scheduled meeting to join the club. It is an open-door policy on who can join.

The club meets on various Fridays from 2:45-4 throughout the school year in the Little Theatre. This occurs mostly during the first semester and last few weeks of school. Due to obligations to the fall play and spring musical (plus scheduled days off from school), Theatre Club does not meet on specific dates. We try to make it every other Friday.

The Strohigan staff works together to create the school's yearbook. Students serve as editors, page designers, photographers, reporters, and marketing team members. The goal of the Strohigan staff is to create an engaging and comprehensive book that tells the story of the school year.

How students can join: Students were recruited for the staff based on teacher recommendations and flyers posted throughout the school. Students who responded to invitations or posted flyers attended meetings at the beginning of the year. At these meetings, students expressed what role or roles they would like to serve on the Strohigan staff. As follow up, they attended training sessions for their chosen role. Students who are still interested in joining staff can do so by talking to Ms. Keirn, who will share the Google Classroom and Remind codes with them, as well as provide appropriate training.

Meeting dates, times, and locations: Meetings are fluid and are held on an "as needed" basis. Some involve the whole staff; some involve specific staff. Meeting dates and times are posted to Google Classroom. Students work on their individual assignments consistently. Meetings and training sessions are held in Room 807.
